CDs and DVDs are likely to get the chop, as are hi-fis and other physical media as people make the brave step towards digital downloads.

There are loads and loads of ways you can re-use old technology, so before you replace your 12" black and white portable with a 80" nuclear powered plasma, read on:
- Put it in another room - after all, wouldn't it be nice to watch Eastenders whilst you're making an omelette?
- Turn it into something else - CDs can be coasters, or an improvised digital scarecrow.
- Donate it to charity - clean and update your home AND get a warm fuzzy feeling inside.
- Give to friends and family - they're probably dying for a Betamax player! Or at least a decent television.
- Talk to local schools - classrooms inevitably need televisions and educational DVDs. Let them know if you have anything you think may help.
On a serious note, please do recycle your old electronics if you do happen to get rid of them - they contain a number of harmful chemicals and substances and take up significant amounts of space in landfill sites.
